Child Age Groups

BABIES  6 MONTHS TO 12 MONTHS

All babies are cared for in our specially designed baby unit. There is a very high ratio of staff to babies allowing us to provide the personal level of attention that all babies demand at this stage.
WOBBLERS  1 YEAR TO 2 YEARS

Prior to starting at the centre, your key carer and manager will discuss with you your baby’s care plan. It is our intention to continue with the routine you have in place at home. You will also have the opportunity of discussing any concerns or worries.

When you want to discuss the possibilities of changing your baby’s diet you will need to talk this through with your baby’s carer. Daily records will be kept on your child’s time at the centre.

As soon as your baby starts to find their feet we will talk to you about moving them to our Wobbler Room.   Children usually spend about six to eight months in the Wobbler Room.

  • During this time your child will learn how to walk properly and become more co-ordinated.
  • They will be protected from hard falls by our specially designed floor surfaces.
  • In the Wobbler room we use visual, physical and audio educational resources to stimulate the children, and they have structured periods of play and sleep time.
  • Our Wobbler Room is where your child will spend much of their day experimenting, exploring and beginning to socialise.
  • We provide you with a Daily Report sheet detailing all nutrition, sleep periods, nappy-changing, play and learning activities, behaviour and any necessary medical administration.

TODDLERS 2 TO 3 YEARS

Your child will graduate to the Toddler Room at some point soon after they become steady on their feet!

  • In the Toddler Room we introduce more advanced equipment, arts and crafts and a daily schedule of activities.
  • Your child’s vocabulary will increase and they will soon be able to form simple sentences.
  • They will make lots of little friends and will enjoy taking part in group learning.
  • By the time your child is ready to leave the Toddler Room they will have a good level of communication and will now be able to retain vast amounts of information and to formulate ideas.
  • During this time, we will also work with you to toilet-train your child when you decide the time is right.
  • We provide you with a Daily Report sheet detailing all nutrition, sleep periods, nappy-changing (or toilet activity), play and learning activites, behaviour and any necessary medical administration.

PRE SCHOOL 3 TO 5 YEARS

The Pre-School Room is where your child will first experience a more structured school environment.

  • Your child will adapt and become used to sitting on a chair at a table and to concentrating for longer periods of time.
  • All children develop at different speeds and Pre-School allows us to assess how each child is faring with the different tasks set.
  • Through various other techniques, your child will grasp the fundamentals of reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Languages, arts and crafts and social behaviour are also key areas of the curriculum.
  • We provide you with a Daily Report sheet detailing all nutrition, toilet activity, play and learning activites, behaviour and any necessary medical administration.

AFTERSCHOOLS  5 TO 12 YEARS

  • Our service includes a supervised period for homework each day.
  • During the evening children can play freely and take part in organised group activities, including outdoor sports in our play areas – weather permitting!
  • After school we give the children a snack and later on in the evening we give them a hot meal.
  • Throughout the year, we introduce extra curricular activities, such as speech and drama, music and arts and crafts.
